No Wall Street background. No finance degree. Just someone who learned the hard way and decided to share everything they wish they'd known sooner.
The Equity Anchor was started in 2026 for one simple reason: good, honest personal finance information is surprisingly hard to find — and I've seen that problem from both sides of the table.
I've spent close to a decade working in the financial services industry. I've traded. I've worked on the business technology side. And for most of that time, my focus has been product development — which means I've spent years understanding how financial products and platforms are actually built, what trade-offs companies make when they design them, and what the gap looks like between how something is marketed and how it actually works.
All of that experience, and yet when it came to making smart personal finance decisions — credit cards, investing platforms, where to put savings, how to think about gold — the information I could find online was still largely useless. Too much jargon, too many hidden conflicts of interest, too many sites that were really just dressed-up advertisements. I got tired of it. So I built something different.
The name comes from the idea that in uncertain financial waters — and there are always uncertain waters — having an anchor keeps you grounded. Not paralyzed, but steady. Making decisions from a place of knowledge rather than confusion or fear.
My background in product development shapes how I approach everything here. I think carefully about how tools work, what they're optimized for, and who they're actually built to serve. That lens is particularly useful when reviewing investing platforms — the features that get marketed aren't always the ones that matter most to everyday users, and I try to cut through that.
I'm not a financial advisor. I don't hold any licenses. What I am is someone with real industry experience, a genuine obsession with how money works for regular people, and a strong opinion that the personal finance space deserves more honesty than it usually gets. When I recommend something, it's because I've researched it thoroughly and genuinely think it's worth your consideration — not because of the commission. When something has real downsides, I say so. When I don't know something, I say that too.
This site covers the areas of personal finance I care most about: credit cards and how to make them work for you (not against you), investing platforms and how to pick the right one for where you are in life, and precious metals as a tangible store of value. The blog is where I dig deeper into specific topics, answer questions, and keep things current as the financial landscape changes.
I'm one person running this. I read every message that comes through the contact page. If something I've written helped you, or if there's a topic you want me to tackle, I genuinely want to hear about it.
Thanks for being here.
The principles behind every piece of content on this site
Every review reflects what I actually think — including the downsides. If a product has real problems, you'll read about them here. Affiliate relationships never change what I write, only whether I earn a small commission if you sign up.
Financial jargon exists to make simple things sound complicated. I translate everything into language that doesn't require a finance degree to understand. If I use a term that needs explaining, I explain it.
I give you the information and my honest take. What you do with it is entirely up to you. I'm not here to tell you what's right for your specific situation — I'm here to make sure you have what you need to decide for yourself.
Rates change. Products change. Platforms come and go. I keep content current so you're not making decisions based on outdated information. If something has changed significantly, I update it.
I'm not a licensed financial advisor and I don't pretend to be. Every page carries a clear disclosure. I share what I know and what I've researched — you should always do your own due diligence before making any financial decision.
The best articles on this site have come from questions and topic suggestions from readers. If there's something you want covered, reach out. There's a real person on the other end who reads everything.

Read Articles →The Equity Anchor is free to use because it's supported by affiliate relationships and advertising. Here's what that means in plain English: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or make a purchase, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. The companies paying those commissions do not influence what I write or how I rate their products.
I only recommend products I've researched thoroughly and would genuinely consider using myself. If I think something is overpriced, has hidden gotchas, or just isn't worth it for most people, I say so — regardless of whether there's an affiliate relationship involved. You'll find critical takes alongside positive ones throughout this site because that's what honest reviews look like.
